The BCB is actively scouting for a new face to replace Andre Adams, who, despite having a contract valid till 2026, may exit early due to dissatisfaction within the team. Adams will still lead the pace unit during the upcoming Test series against Zimbabwe, but his future looks uncertain.
Gul, who played 47 Tests, 130 ODIs, and 60 T20Is for Pakistan, has gained substantial coaching experience post-retirement. He’s worked with Quetta Gladiators, Afghanistan’s national team, and served as Pakistan’s fast bowling coach.
Other potential candidates in the mix include Shaun Tait, Allan Donald, and Ottis Gibson.
Meanwhile, BCB has extended head coach Phil Simmons’ contract till the 2027 World Cup, and has also finalized the reappointment of senior assistant coach Mohammad Salahuddin, who is expected to play a critical role in Bangladesh’s preparations.
