Peshawar Zalmi Crush Multan Sultans to Keep Playoff Hopes Alive

Multan, Monday Night – Peshawar Zalmi’s bowlers dominated Multan Sultans in a one-sided affair, securing a commanding seven-wicket victory in the 25th match of PSL at Multan Cricket Stadium. The win keeps Zalmi’s playoff dreams alive as they chase a top-four finish.

Opting to bat first, Multan Sultans suffered early blows, losing openers Yasir Khan (10) and captain Mohammad Rizwan (17) inside the powerplay. Tayyab Tahir (22 off 18) and Shai Hope (23 off 21) briefly steadied the innings with a 26-run stand, but Ahmed Daniyal’s dismissal of Tahir triggered a collapse.

Left-arm spinner Maaz Sadaqat (2-12) struck twice, removing Ashton Turner (0) and Muhammad Amir Barki, while Ali Raza and Alzarri Joseph chipped in with crucial wickets. Hope’s resistance ended in the 15th over, and the tail folded quickly, with Luke Wood (2-18) and Daniyal wrapping up the innings in 19.1 overs.

Zalmi lost Mitchell Owen early, but Saim Ayub (49 off 33, 4x4s, 3x6s) played a fiery knock to put his side in control. Despite Shahid Afridi (2-17) dismissing Babar Azam (8) and Saim, Max Bryant (38* off 23, 5x4s, 1×6) ensured a smooth chase, sealing victory in just 13 overs.

With this win, Peshawar Zalmi move to fifth place with eight points. They must win their remaining two matches to secure a playoff berth. Meanwhile, Multan Sultans, despite the loss, remain in a strong position near the top of the table.
