Lucknow Super Giants lose by 205 runs, exit IPL

Despite posting a formidable 205 runs, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) suffered a crushing six-wicket defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), effectively ending their playoff hopes. SRH, already out of contention, delivered a stunning performance to knock LSG out of the tournament in their final flourish.

After being sent in to bat at the Ekana Stadium, LSG put up a competitive 205/7, powered by Mitchell Marsh (65 off 39) and Aiden Markram (61 off 38). Nicholas Pooran provided a late surge with a fiery 45 off 26, setting what seemed like a challenging target.

In response, SRH opener Abhishek Sharma launched a brutal assault, smashing a 18-ball fifty before falling for 59 off just 20 deliveries (4 fours, 6 sixes). His explosive start set the tone, with Ishan Kishan (35 off 28), Heinrich Klaasen (47 off 28), and Kamindu Mendis (32* off 21) ensuring SRH chased down the target with 10 balls to spare.

With this loss, LSG remain at 10 points from 12 matches, while SRH move to 9 points. Given the net run rate scenario and only two games left, Lucknow’s playoff chances now look highly unlikely.

A night that began with promise ended in despair for LSG, while SRH signed off their campaign with a statement win.
