Former Indian cricketers Gautam Gambhir and Aakash Chopra have publicly expressed support for India’s recent military strikes inside Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The operation, dubbed ‘Operation Sindoor’, targeted multiple locations late Tuesday night.
Gambhir posted ‘Jai Hind’ on X (formerly Twitter), sharing an image circulated by the Indian Army referencing the operation. Chopra and other cricketers, including Pragyan Ojha and Kolkata Knight Riders captain Varun Chakravarthy, echoed the sentiment, reposting the same image with the operation’s name.

India’s strikes reportedly hit six locations in Punjab and Azad Kashmir, killing eight civilians (including women and children) and injuring 35 others, according to Pakistani officials. Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif condemned the attack as “cowardly.”
In retaliation, Pakistan claimed to have shot down five Indian fighter jets and destroyed an Indian army brigade headquarters and a check post in Kashmir. India, however, stated that three civilians died due to Pakistani shelling in the region.
Tensions flared after a terrorist attack in Pahalgam (Indian-administered Kashmir) on April 22, which killed 26 civilians. India accused Pakistan of involvement, a claim Islamabad denied, calling for an independent probe. The exchange of accusations culminated in Tuesday night’s military confrontation.
